Partition Systems

Non-load-bearing drywall partitions, from single layer through to high-acoustic
chase and staggered stud build-ups.

EKP-1

Single Layer Partition

EL-KHAYYAT drywall partitions are non-loadbearing, lightweight and quick to erect, yet robust. Plasterboard is
screw-fixed to both faces of a galvanised steel frame of U-tracks and C-studs, and the joints are taped and filled to
produce a flat, continuous wall ready for decoration.

Key benefits

  • Considerably lighter than blockwork of comparable thickness, reducing dead load on the structure
  • Allows savings in structural design and foundations; well suited to high-rise construction
  • Dry, fast installation with little site waste
  • Cost effective, and shortens the overall construction programme

Performance

  • Fire resistance of up to 1 hour, subject to the tested assembly selected
  • Sound insulation of up to 51 dB
  • Additional board layers raise both fire and acoustic performance
  • Mineral wool cavity infill improves acoustic performance

Double Layer Partition

EL-KHAYYAT drywall partitions are non-loadbearing, lightweight and quick to erect, yet robust. Two layers of
plasterboard are screw-fixed to each face of a galvanised steel frame of U-tracks and C-studs, with joints
staggered between layers, taped and filled to produce a flat, continuous wall ready for decoration.

Performance

  • Fire resistance of up to 3 hours, subject to the tested assembly selected
  • Sound insulation of up to 57 dB
  • Staggered joints between layers improve fire and acoustic integrity
  • Mineral wool cavity infill improves acoustic performance
EKP-3

Triple Layer Partition

EL-KHAYYAT drywall partitions are non-loadbearing, lightweight and quick to erect, yet robust. Three layers of
plasterboard are screw-fixed to each face of a galvanised steel frame of U-tracks and C-studs, with joints
staggered between layers, taped and filled to produce a flat, continuous wall ready for decoration.

Performance

  • Fire resistance of up to 3 hours, subject to the tested assembly selected
  • Sound insulation of up to 61 dB
  • Specified where high fire and acoustic ratings are required within a single stud line
  • Mineral wool cavity infill improves acoustic performance

EKP-C

Chase Wall Partition

EKP-C is used where very high acoustic separation is required, or where large services must be housed inside the
wall. Two parallel rows of studs and tracks are set within one partition and boarded only on the outer faces, in
multiple layers. The two rows are tied at defined heights by plasterboard gussets, metal profiles or acoustic braces,
selected to suit the required rating.

Key benefits

  • No stud is common to both faces, so structure-borne transmission is minimal
  • Wide cavity accommodates large pipework and service runs
  • Mineral wool in each stud cavity further improves acoustic performance
  • Fire and acoustic sealant at the perimeter provides the air-tightness needed in fire

Performance

  • Fire resistance of up to 3 hours, subject to the tested assembly selected
  • Sound insulation of up to 72 dB
  • Bracing type and spacing are selected to suit the acoustic requirement
  • Mineral wool cavity infill improves acoustic performance
EKP-S

Staggered Stud Partition

EKP-S is an acoustic partition in which studs are staggered along a single wide track, so that no stud is common to
both faces of the wall. Single or double layers of board are fixed to the outer faces. The studs are not braced
horizontally, which keeps the two leaves acoustically independent.

Key benefits

  • Higher acoustic performance than a single-frame partition of the same thickness
  • Uses a single wide track, so it is thinner and quicker to build than a chase wall
  • Mineral wool woven through the staggered studs improves acoustic performance
  • Fire and acoustic sealant at the perimeter provides the air-tightness needed in fire

Performance

  • Fire resistance of up to 2 hours, subject to the tested assembly selected
  • Sound insulation of up to 61 dB
  • Performance rises with additional board layers and cavity insulation
